Job Description:
Reporting into the Vice President, Head of Regulatory Office, you will primarily be responsible for preparing quarterly, annual, and ad hoc Committee and Board reporting on behalf of the Enterprise Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and leading the development of our Enterprise Compliance Key Risk Indicator (KRI) framework.
In partnership with senior Compliance team members, this role is critical for reporting on, assessing and managing risks that could affect the organization’s performance and regulatory obligations across various jurisdictions. In addition, this role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and global leadership to ensure risk and compliance initiatives align with the company’s strategic objectives.
This individual will have the opportunity to be a key member and contributor to a small team with a large mandate. Will drive global compliance reporting, working with senior stakeholders across our enterprise compliance teams the Director, Regulatory Compliance Reporting will develop quantitative metrics underpinning our KRI frameworks considering the complexities of our business lines, regulatory requirements and input from key stakeholders. In addition, this role provides insights and analytics into Sun Life’s compliance with global regulatory requirements for our Board and Senior management.

What will you do?
Take the lead by working with Senior Executives across Sun Life including Business Group Chief Compliance Officers (CCOs) and Corporate Functional Leaders to prepare quarterly and annual and ad-hoc Board reporting on behalf of the Enterprise Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)
Developing global reporting methodologies
With a focus on storytelling, this individual will craft narratives that not only inform but also drive risk-aware decision-making across the organization
Liaise with other key oversight teams (e.g. Enterprise Risk, Internal Audit, Enterprise Compliance) to ensure completeness and accuracy of various inputs into Compliance Reporting (e.g. issues management, internal audit findings etc.)
Review and challenge reporting from Business Group CCOs and Corporate Functional Area teams to ensure Enterprise CCO reporting is complete and accurately reflects Sun Life’s Compliance posture
Identify regulatory themes and trends across the industry – locally and globally – and provide summarized, analysis (including impact assessment) for reporting, i.e. development of a regulatory “heat map”
Be strategic in reviewing, creating and re-designing reports and their supporting processes to drive value-add reporting for the Compliance function
Act as a subject matter expert and ‘go to’ person for perspectives on regulatory themes, trends, areas of focus and developments impacting Sun Life
Identify and define key risk indicators in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with the company’s risk appetite
Monitor, analyze and report on KRI data to provide timely insights into potential risk exposures
Support senior leadership in understanding KRI trends and in decision-marking for risk mitigation strategies
Lead initiatives to improve risk measurement, data quality and risk measurement processes
Support the OSFI liaison office, as required
What do you need to succeed?
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex regulatory compliance data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Organizational savvy and ability to navigate and lead cross-functionally within a complex and matrixed organization and influence decision-making
Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
Strong analytical, strategic, and project management skills
Knowledge of the financial services industry, asset management industry, legislation, and regulatory requirements
Ability to translate regulatory themes, trends, and expectations into “so what” statements, i.e. business impacts and regulatory risks
Ability to be agile and adapt quickly to evolving priorities
Flexibility with work hours to accommodate interactions with Asia-based Sun Life teams and the needs of the quarterly reporting cycle
Technical Requirements
University degree in law, finance, business, risk management or related field
Minimum of 7+ years in a regulated industry and prior experience with regulatory relationships and reporting to a Board or senior executive management
Strong understanding of regulatory compliance risk management frameworks, KRI methodologies, and regulatory requirements
Proficiency in data visualization and the development of Power Point decks
Experience in redesigning and creating net new reporting using clear, precise, plain language

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
