As a Circulation Shift Supervisor, you aim to create an exceptional customer experience. You understand the significance of face-to-face interactions and warmly welcome everyone who visits the library. This is a regular, full-time position.
Responsibilities:
- This position provides frontline customer service to patrons regarding material checked in and out of the library.
- Directs patrons to additional library services as required.
- Resolves customer concerns and complaints and provides assistance to the circulation supervisors.
- Ensures all returned items are accounted for and in reasonable shape.
- Sorts items onto carts for shelving.
- Handles cash and debit transactions for fines, fees and book sale items.
- Provides information to patrons regarding charges to their accounts and library policies.
- Registers new patrons into library database and update patron records.
- Processes interlibrary loans.
- Assists in scheduling tasks, problem solving and coaching staff.
- Instructs patrons on how to use online catalogue and Self-Checkout machines.
- Processes new library materials.
Requirements:
The Circulation Shift Supervisor currently works Monday to Friday with an evening shift on Monday. These hours may be modified due to operational requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Secondary school graduation (Grade 12). An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- One to two years of job-related experience including experience with the organization, policies, procedures, systems and operations of a library circulation department and experience with automated library systems.
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience resolving customer complaints.
- Experience with cash handling procedures, balancing and reporting
