JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose
Set up and operate a CNC press brake to produce custom metal parts, using various forming tools and equipment in a precision sheet metal fabrication facility.
Competency Requirements
Job Knowledge:
☐ Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.
☐ Operate a computer numeric controlled (CNC) press brake to make precision bends, punches, or cuts into sheet metal.
☐ Be able to calculate flat layout and determine bend sequence.
Select correct punches and dies for the material being formed. Setup machine, program machine and bend part to customer specifications and tolerances.
☐ Check parts using calipers, square, protractor, scale or other measuring instruments as required.
☐ Adjust dimensions as needed for variances during run to maintain tolerances
specified.
Work Quality
☐ Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
☐ Maintain production or processing equipment to ensure safe and efficient
operation.
☐ Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and
environmental regulations
☐ Carry out all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
☐ Meet established production and quality standards. Take personal ownership and pride in the quality of work.
Work Rate:
☐ Good shop math skills, problem-solving and knowledge of different forming techniques.
☐ Able to interpret blueprints, sketches or specifications.
☐ Must be able to do heavy and/or repetitive lifting, stooping and bending.
☐ Good housekeeping habits and strict adherence to safety.

☐ Work safely and efficiently abiding by all safety protocols and procedures.
☐ Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and policies as outlined in the Company Health and Safety manual to prevent workplace injuries including using personal protective equipment, using protective devises on equipment, performing all pre-use inspections as required, follow lockout procedures and report all injuries.
☐ Complete daily Labour Sheet ensuring accurate allocation of time spent
Education, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Licenses/Certificates:
☐ High school with some post-secondary technical training in a skilled trade.
☐ Driver’s license
Experience:
☐ Minimum 3 yrs. experience brake set-up, forming to print. Amada, Trumpf, Allsteel brakes. GD&T knowledge required
☐ Ability to read, interpret blueprints.
☐ Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on machinery.
☐ Previous experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Skills:

☐ Read specifications or follow verbal instructions, Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines.
☐ Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products, Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications, Troubleshoot, perform corrective action or minor repairs, Document work completed, Clean and lubricate equipment
Work Environment
☐ Normal for an industrial heavy metal manufacturing environment.
☐ Works with heavy parts, near moving mechanical parts, and material handling
equipment.
☐ Environment can be noisy and there is a risk of injury while machine is being
tested.
☐ Hot environment during summer season.
Physical Demands:
☐ Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs.)
☐ Ability to stand and walk for most of the day.
Shift Available:
Days: 7am to 4:30pm
Afternoons: 4:30pm to 1:30am
