DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCES
Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Director of Human Resources for the Winnipeg location. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; Masters’ degree and CHRP is preferred and a minimum of 10-12 years of broad based HR experience including 5 years of management experience. In addition, the select candidate will have a demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees. Acts as the primary point of contact for all Human Resources related needs at the site operations level as an effective HR business partner. Liaises with senior management as an effective strategic business partner to appropriately advise, facilitate and guide Human Resources related decisions and processes. Leads site Human Resources functions including: employee relations; performance management; compliance; organizational development. Partners with HR Centers of Excellence on matters related to recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits, disability management.
Active participant on relevant leadership teams and committees, which may include: Site Leadership Team, Pension Committee, Safety Committee, Privacy Committee etc.
Primary client group is site operations, but span crosses over with other functional areas on site including finance, legal, IT, Clinical, Regulatory, Medical affairs, etc. The Director, HR for the site must effectively partner with other HRBP leads to deliver a seamless HR experience for shared client groups.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee site recruitment and selection process, in partnership with the Talent Team
Ensure effective execution of the employee on-boarding process
Partner with leaders to assess future talent needs and implement proactive strategies to meet those needs
Manage the corporate performance management process for the operations team
Lead site operations completion of corporate Succession Planning process
Foster a positive employee relations climate
Handle complex employee relations issues
Facilitate and/or oversee all aspects of employee termination process
Compensation & Benefits:
Manage salary administration and other compensation related programs
Provide site support and review of annual merit/bonus process
Prepare and maintain salary recommendations to ensure alignment with corporate salary structure and internal equity
Support corporate HR in the administration of Canadian benefits programs as required
In partnership with the talent team, coordinate and/or implement enterprise wide training and development programs – adhering to philosophy of enterprise first, regional needs second and team specific customization third priority.
Identify and address organizational issues where necessary to increase site effectiveness and organizational capabilities
Participate in site culture and engagement planning
Strategic HR Leadership & Business Planning
Partner with business departments to address human resource matters that enhance business results
Provide leadership and mentorship to site HR staff
Improve processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
Ensure compliance with HR administrative processes and SOX regulations.
Communicate HR initiatives/programs to the site; partner with HR COEs to meet corporate goals and objectives
Maintain current human resources knowledge to ensure compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws related to employment.
Projects and Special Assignments
Sits on project teams and takes on special projects as required.
May provide Canadian expertise in support of locations outside of Winnipeg as required

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; Masters’ degree is preferred. CHRP designation is preferred.
A minimum of 10-12 years of broad-based HR experience, including expertise in multiple HR disciplines, and 5 years of management experience required.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of federal and provincial employment and benefit laws.
Sound judgment and decision-making; ability to analyze data and provide recommendation
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.
