Part-time support opportunity (PNK): August 2019 – December 2019

Hourly rate: $24.00 per hour

Department: Student Recruitment and Admissions Hours: 35 hours per week. Afternoon and evening work will be required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager, Student Recruitment the duties of the Recruitment Officer are to participate in and conduct a comprehensive recruiting program to meet college enrolment targets. This would include participating in recruitment activities; liaising with stakeholders and community agencies; maintaining and presenting up-to-date knowledge of the programs and services of the college. The Recruitment Officer will represent Durham College in a range of internal and external activities (high school presentations, community events, career fairs, community agencies etc.) connecting with prospective students, educators, parents and other influencers to raise awareness of Durham College's program offerings and pathways. The primary goal of the Recruitment officer is to ensure that Durham College meets its enrolment targets by generating a strong applicant pool of qualified students.

Develop and execute a comprehensive direct and non-direct recruitment program related to the full range of college programs. Provides expert product knowledge and maintains ongoing contact with secondary schools province-wide.
Organize and participate in system-wide recruiting activities such as CIP (College Information Program) and high school visits, including making all travel arrangements during this time for rental vehicles, insurance, and accommodations.
Maintain knowledge of programs by liaising with Executive Deans, Associate Deans, Program Coordinators, Administrative Coordinators, Student Advisors and faculty and attend program and advisory meetings as required.
Develop and conduct community presentations, for recruitment purposes, as requested by secondary schools and special interest groups. Liaising with stakeholders by providing promotional materials and information to high schools and agencies at the start of the recruitment/school year.
Provide admissions and program information to a diverse range of potential students including those from high schools, adult learners, and referrals from community agencies.
Participate in college events such as campus tours, high school visits, and open houses, for potential students, applicants, parent and guidance counselors; guidance counselor workshops and other recruitment initiatives in consultation with college staff.
Respond to correspondence: letter, email, and telephone calls in a timely and professional manner.
Update and utilize the CRM to collect prospect data and manage relationships using this tool.
Lifting boxes of up to 40 lb containing promotional materials and display containers 50+ lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Two-year diploma in marketing, public relations or employment counseling.
Minimum of three years’ experience demonstrating excellent oral and public speaking skills and superior writing ability, creative and excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
Tact, integrity, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Well-developed problem solving, decision-making and leadership skills.
Must be self-directed, motivated with strong organizational & time management skills.
The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to complete evening and/or weekend work.
A valid G driver’s license is required.
