Junior Accountant

35 hours/week | Monday–Friday (8:30 AM–4:30 PM)

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment while gaining hands-on experience across multiple accounting functions.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Junior Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations by accurately processing financial transactions, maintaining accounting records, and assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and financial reporting to ensure the integrity of the organization's financial information.
This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
As the Junior Accountant, you will:
- Process accounts payable, including invoice coding, payment processing, vendor reconciliations, and cheque/EFT preparation.
- Support accounts receivable by applying client payments, preparing invoices, monitoring outstanding accounts, and responding to inquiries.
- Assist with payroll administration by coordinating payroll information, reviewing payroll reports, and supporting employee benefits administration.
- Complete monthly bank and corporate credit card reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare journal entries, month-end accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting and audit preparation.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with internal controls and organizational policies.
- Support continuous process improvements and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with Finance colleagues and program teams to support organizational operations.
What You'll Bring
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 0–3 years of accounting experience, including exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, or general accounting functions.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting software or ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Vena, ADP, or similar) is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
- High standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Fluency in English. Additional languages, including French, are considered an asset.
