Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dispatcher to support our weekend operations. This role is critical in ensuring on-time performance, effective communication with drivers, and smooth daily service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor dispatch systems and routes to ensure timely, safe, and efficient service (OTP-focused operations)
- Communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, dispatch team, and other departments
- Answer multi-line phones and respond to emails in a calm, professional manner
- Assign vehicles and routes to operators for daily service
- Act as a liaison between drivers and internal teams to resolve service issues in real time
- Handle service disruptions including late trips, breakdowns, and reassignments
- Track and update service logs, reports, and operational data (Excel and internal systems)
- Maintain high data accuracy across logs, reports, and system updates
- Support vehicle readiness and coordination for scheduled trips
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all required information is documented
- Handle real-time decision-making under pressure to maintain service levels
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous dispatch experience is an asset
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook); ability to learn dispatch software
- Experience with real-time dispatch systems, GPS, and tablet-based systems is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional under pressure
- Good knowledge of Calgary road network and GPS navigation systems
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable and punctual — must be able to consistently start at 5:00 AM
Requirements
- Availability to work weekends (Saturday & Sunday)
- Ability to work early morning shifts (5:00 AM start)
- Flexible to support additional shifts if required
