Job Overview
Cherub Healthcare Services Ltd. is seeking a skilled and compassionate Female Registered Nurse (RN) to provide one-on-one nursing care for an adult client in a private family home in Pickering, Ontario. This position is currently for Thursday night shifts, with opportunities for additional shifts as they become available.
The successful candidate will provide direct clinical care, ongoing assessment and monitoring, and work closely with the client and family to support safety, comfort, and quality of life. This role is well suited to an RN who is confident working independently in a home-care setting and who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, professionalism, and a patient-centred approach to care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide G‑tube feeding and gastrostomy site care, including monitoring for complications and maintaining a clean, healthy insertion site.
- Complete ongoing respiratory assessments and monitoring, including auscultation and observation of breathing patterns and oxygenation as clinically required.
- Monitor and document vital signs and overall status, maintaining clear, timely, and accurate nursing records.
- Perform suctioning as clinically required to maintain airway patency and comfort, while adhering to infection prevention and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, with a current unrestricted RN licence. (MUST HAVE)
- Recent experience in home care, community, complex care, critical care, medical‑surgical, or private duty nursing (strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated competence with G‑tube/enteral feeding, diabetes care (including insulin administration), respiratory assessment, suctioning, and direct patient care in a home or community setting, or a strong willingness to train in these areas.
- Strong clinical judgment, assessment, critical thinking, and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently in a private home environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, patient‑centred, and consistent approach to care.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident to qualify for complete security background checks.
- Clear criminal history and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Ability to provide professional references.
- Professional, respectful conduct in a private family home.
Pay: Up to $50.00 per hour
