MicroSurvey software is seeking an individual with excellent written and spoken communication skills and a background in the forensic mapping, geomatics, cad or civil engineering industry to respond to requests for assistance from our customers and to create training and documentation resources to allow our customers to achieve success with our products. This individual will work as part of our Support, Quality Assurance and Training team and will be focused on helping grow our specialized forensic mapping product line.
The candidate we seek will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, a rational approach to diagnosing software problems, strong research skills and familiarity with geomatics measurement technology and CAD software. Experience with forensic mapping technology, Autocad, Leica Geosystems Map360, EVR, MicroSurvey CAD, FieldGenius or STAR*NET software will be a significant asset. Knowledge of geodetics measurement technology and CAD software will be very important.
The position will have three areas of focus:
Support: Responding to phone and email requests for assistance, updating company records about support interactions and helping our sales and development teams to offer excellent service and software solutions.
Quality Assurance: Working as an active member of a “scrum” team in partnership with our developers to design solutions, refine products and release defect free products to our clients.
Training: Creating documents, help documents, web pages, digital video resources and hosting live streamed training events to our customer base and vendors. Some domestic and international travel may be required to assist our sales efforts.

Job Description: Geomatics Technician - Public Safety Support and Quality Assurance
Telephone and Helpdesk Customer Assistance
Provide a friendly, courteous experience for customers and prospective customers when they reach the support department
Respond to support emails via Helpdesk and receive support calls
Contact customers to assist when requested by sales staff
Research solutions for newly encountered issues or required new solutions
Maintain sales client contact database
Maintain Helpdesk articles and client database
Communicate with prospects to assist in their evaluation of the software
Assist prospects in transitioning from other solutions to MicroSurvey
Provide training and support for internal staff
Troubleshoot and document software issues following a methodical troubleshooting algorithm
Test new versions and updates
Confirm bug fixes
Maintain “Ontime” and Azure DevOps bug and feature tracking system
Verify and; if necessary, report defects when encountered during testing, support or training
Documentation and Training
Assist with the development of training materials
Update Helpdesk technical articles and trouble shooter
Teach customers, staff and vendors about our products in site, in the classroom and online
Qualifications and Skills
2+ years geospatial product and market experience
Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of industry standard geospatial products such as CAD, data collection, least squares, GIS and other market or segment related products is required.
Bachelor’s Degree, Engineering Degree or Technology Diploma in a geospatial or related science or discipline
Ability to travel within the Canada, USA and internationally occasionally.
