NLC requires one sessional instructor(s) to teach one or both of the sections as indicated below – with each contract consisting of approx. 96 hours. The course delivery will be on one campus with additional hours for travel to the other (videoconference to take place during the class).
English 100 – Academic Writing - This course introduces students to university-level academic writing across the disciplines, reflecting the kinds of written communication that occur in the humanities, social sciences, and/or natural sciences and leads to a greater understanding of the practices and voices that characterize academic communities. Writing and scholarly research skills may include critical summaries, literature and article reviews, academic proposals, annotated bibliographies, and final research essays. (FRI, 1:15 – 4:10pm)
English 110 - Intro to Workplace Communications - this course introduces students to professional and interpersonal communication in the workplace. Students will learn to organize information, write clearly and persuasively, and adapt messages for different audiences and situations. Assignments include business letters, memoranda, resumes, cover letters, presentations, bibliographies, and reports. (Tu/Th, 1:15 – 2:40pm)
