Medical Office Assistant (Casual)
Sylvan Medical Center is seeking a reliable, professional, and accountable Medical Office Assistant who demonstrates excellent judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical environment.
We are a busy family medicine clinic in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, providing care to a large patient population. We are looking for an individual who is dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who have:
- Completion of a Medical Office Assistant Program from a recognized post-secondary institution
- Previous experience working in a physician's office, medical clinic, hospital, or other healthcare environment
- Experience using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
Applicants should be prepared to provide professional references who can speak to their reliability, attendance, work ethic, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
Administrative Duties (Including but not limited to)
- Greeting and checking in patients
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Answering and directing telephone calls
- Managing patient records within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Updating and maintaining accurate patient demographic information
- Communicating appointment instructions and follow-up requirements
- Processing incoming and outgoing correspondence, forms, and referrals
- Supporting efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
Clinical Support Duties (Including but not limited to)
- Preparing patients for physician appointments
- Recording patient measurements such as height, weight, blood pressure, and urine testing
- Assisting physicians with procedures as directed
- Preparing examination and procedure rooms
- Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining clinical equipment and workspaces
- Collecting and processing patient specimens as required
- Ordering and restocking medical supplies
- Performing sterilization and reprocessing procedures in accordance with clinic protocols
Position Details
- This casual position requires flexibility and availability to assist with vacation coverage, illness coverage, and other operational staffing needs. Applicants should have availability that reasonably accommodates short-notice scheduling requirements. Additional hours may become available based on clinic needs.
