The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Building Operations, the Controls & Technical Systems Manager provides technical leadership across Armour’s portfolio. The role is responsible for supporting the reliable and efficient operation of building automation, HVAC, mechanical equipment, and other critical building systems. Combining hands-on technical expertise with people's leadership, this individual will monitor building performance, troubleshoot complex issues, oversee preventative maintenance programs, and support repairs, upgrades, and capital projects. They will also serve as a technical resource to Building Operations, Maintenance, and Tenant Relations teams while identifying opportunities to improve system performance and maintenance practices across the portfolio.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Building Operators, including training, onboarding, and ongoing technical support.
- Monitor and optimize Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC, mechanical equipment, and related building systems across the portfolio.
- Assess and prioritize building system issues, coordinating internal resources and external vendors to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Oversee third-party preventative maintenance programs, review service reports and recommendations, obtain quotations, and coordinate required repairs.
- Identify opportunities to improve building performance, energy and system efficiency, preventative maintenance practices, and equipment reliability.
- Support HVAC and mechanical repairs, equipment upgrades, and capital projects.
- Ensure building systems operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to tenant and operational concerns with a practical, responsive, and customer-focused approach.
- Collaborate across the organization while independently managing priorities and making sound technical decisions.
- Oversee HVAC and related mechanical equipment serving food and beverage establishments and commercial kitchen operations, coordinating preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment upgrades as required.
What We Are Looking For
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced building operations leader with a strong technical understanding of complex building systems. You bring hands-on expertise in building automation, HVAC, and mechanical systems, combined with sound judgment and a practical approach to troubleshooting, prioritizing issues, and determining when additional expertise or resources are required.
You are a confident and collaborative leader who knows when to provide direction, when to delegate, and when to step in. Organized and adaptable, you effectively manage competing priorities, communicate across technical and non-technical teams, and maintain a practical, solutions-focused approach. You bring sound judgment, take initiative, and consistently look for opportunities to strengthen building performance and improve how work is delivered.
Qualifications and experience include:
- 5+ years of experience in commercial or residential building maintenance, building operations with a diploma or certificate in a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of Building Automation Systems, HVAC, mechanical equipment, and building systems.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and technical problem-solving ability.
- Ability to prioritize work, delegate effectively, and coordinate internal teams and external vendors.
- An entrepreneurial, continuous-improvement mindset with an eagerness to learn and grow.
