DP World Fraser Surrey
The Largest Multi-Purpose Marine Terminal on the West Coast of North America. Located in the Greater Vancouver Area of Surrey, BC, DP World Fraser Surrey is the largest modern, multi-purpose marine terminal on the West Coast of North America. Since 1962, our terminal has been serving the need of our customers with our variety of services including container, breakbulk, project cargo, forest products and bulk. We are only a 2-hour vessel transit from Pacific Ocean access and have excellent proximity to highways, railways and industrial areas. Located just 25 KM from the US border and with 50,000 feet of rail our terminal is an efficient rail and road solution in the Vancouver gateway. The Opportunity
The Manager, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) provides leadership and strategy for the health, safety, security and environmental programs for the Fraser Surrey Terminal, Mainland Stevedoring and Nanaimo Operations. The role is responsible for the continuous improvement of all current HSSE programs, as well as the identification and development of new initiatives to improve safety performance.
In This Role, You Will:

Lead in the development of standardized HSSE systems, programs, policies, training, campaigns and programs related to injury prevention and regulatory and company compliance.
- Develop HSSE improvement plans aligned with the regional strategy and Canada requirements.
- Attend and assist with participation, preparation and actions pertaining to JHSC’s at the Business Units.
- Liaise with the Canada HSSE Director to develop and implement standardized programs, actions, and communications to be implemented at both Business Unit and Canada to drive safety improvement.
- Oversee Business Units training program and strategically prioritize training gaps, and assist with planning and organizing training to meet business needs.
- Provide guidance and direction on implementation of return at work processes such as resources, training, reporting, appeals to third party management company, Operations, and Business Unit leadership.
- Ensure incident reporting, data analysis and investigation compliance are aligned with internal and external requirements
What You Bring To The Role:

A degree in Occupational/Industrial Health and Safety or a related field, and/or CRSP designation.
- Minimum 5 years of management experience in Health, Safety, Environment and Security Management Systems.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in heavy industrial environment; unionized environment.
- Experience in leading critical incident investigations, development and management of corrective action projects, and in liaising with government, regulatory, industry and labour organizations.
- Advanced knowledge of Health, Safety, Management Systems and successful implementation.
- Strong knowledge in Claims and Injury Management for business coaching and implementation.
- Ability to strategically plan, analyze, implement and review a variety of projects and assignments.
- Strong commitment to client service excellence with the ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships across all levels and functional areas of an organization.
- High level analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills and ability to recommend appropriate courses of action using procedures, practices, guidelines and the application of professional knowledge.
- Demonstrated financial and budget management skills.
- Strong business acumen and bottom-line orientation as it relates to decision making that impacts the organization.
- Outstanding leadership skills and the ability to motivate, develop and encourage staff to positively contribute to business goals and objectives.
