Brenex Building Corporation is an established commercial general contractor proudly serving Edmonton and the surrounding area for over 43 years. We are currently seeking a motivated and organized Health & Safety Coordinator to join our team.
The Health & Safety Coordinator will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving Brenex’s COR-certified Health, Safety & Environment program while helping ensure compliance with applicable OH&S requirements. This role is primarily administrative in nature, with field work required as needed.
This position will start as part-time, approximately three days per week, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position depending on overall project load.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the ongoing development, review, and updating of Brenex’s health and safety program.
- Review, organize, maintain, and file safety documentation.
- Ensure required safety documentation is available and maintained for active worksites.
- Oversee the company equipment maintenance program.
- Conduct site inspections, incident investigations, and safety meetings as required.
- Conduct new hire safety orientations.
- Work closely with site superintendents and project management to ensure safety measures are being maintained on site.
- Assist with subcontractor HSE management, including prequalification, onboarding, and documentation review.
- Review and revise formal hazard assessments as required.
- Develop worksite emergency response plans as needed.
- Complete yearly internal safety audits to maintain COR certification and assist with external audits for COR recertification.
- Complete WCB reporting and assist with WCB claims management, including related documentation, rehabilitation, and return-to-work programs.
- Encourage and promote a positive safety culture through a practical, team-based approach.
Qualifications
- Alberta Construction Safety Association HSA designation, or another recognized health and safety administration program.
- Valid ACSA COR auditor training certification.
- Previous construction safety experience is preferred.
- Experience working for a commercial general contractor is considered an asset.
- Current Standard First Aid certification.
- Valid driver’s licence and clean driver’s abstract.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Experience with SiteDocs or a similar safety documentation platform is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting site teams and project management.
Compensation
Wage will be determined based on previous experience and qualifications.

Pay: $40,000.00-$45,000.00 per year
