The Opportunity
Insight Behaviour Support Services (IBSS) is seeking an experienced Registered Psychotherapist to expand psychotherapy and specialized mental-health services across the organizations we support. This is a specialized clinical role for a clinician who can provide high-quality direct psychotherapy while bringing a strong understanding of behavioural principles to work with individuals who have developmental disabilities, dual diagnoses, and complex mental-health needs.
The role is particularly focused on adolescents and adults and is intended to strengthen the integration of psychotherapy, mental-health practice, and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). The preferred candidate will hold R.B.A. (Ont.) registration in good standing with CPBAO. Consideration may also be given to exceptional non-RBA candidates who demonstrate extensive ABA experience and strong working knowledge of behaviour analysis.
What You Will Spend Your Time Doing
· Priority 1 - Direct Psychotherapy: Maintain an active psychotherapy caseload and complete associated assessment, formulation, treatment planning, outcome monitoring, documentation, and discharge/transition responsibilities.
· Priority 2 - Approved RBA Caseload & Other Billable Clinical Work: Where registered as an R.B.A. (Ont.), maintain an approved RBA caseload and provide other billable behaviour-analytic clinical services based on organizational need and available capacity. For a non-RBA candidate, additional clinical responsibilities will remain within regulated scope of practice.
· Priority 3 - Targeted Mental-Health & Complex-Case Consultation: Provide focused consultation to RBAs, supported organizations, families/caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams based on identified need and available capacity.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide evidence-informed, developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed psychotherapy to adolescents, adults and other supported individuals within scope.
· Support individuals with developmental disabilities, dual diagnoses, emotional-regulation challenges, trauma-related needs, and complex mental-health presentations.
· Complete clinical intake, assessment, case formulation, treatment planning, progress monitoring, outcome measurement, documentation, and transition/discharge planning.
· Integrate behavioural, developmental, environmental, and mental-health perspectives to support coordinated, person-centred care.
· Where appropriately registered, provide behaviour-analytic assessment, treatment planning, data review, and related RBA clinical services.
· Provide targeted mental-health consultation regarding dual diagnosis, trauma, addictions/substance-use concerns, anxiety, mood, emotional regulation, and other relevant factors.
· Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and collaborative treatment planning when clinically appropriate.
· Identify when psychiatric, medical, addiction, crisis, or other specialized services are indicated and support appropriate referral or escalation.
· Maintain accurate, timely, confidential, and professionally compliant clinical documentation.
· Contribute clinical expertise to the development of psychotherapy and integrated mental-health services as capacity and organizational priorities permit.
Required Qualifications
· Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Psychology, Behaviour Analysis, Social Work, or a related discipline that supports the required professional registration.
· Registered Psychotherapist (R.P.) in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
· Approximately 3-7 years of relevant clinical experience.
· Strong experience providing psychotherapy/counselling to adolescents and adults with mental-health and developmental needs.
· Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and dual diagnoses, including autism and/or other complex developmental presentations.
· Demonstrated trauma-informed psychotherapy experience.
· Strong clinical documentation, communication, case-management, professional judgment, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
· Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
RBA / ABA Requirement
Registration as an R.B.A. (Ont.) in good standing with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) is strongly desired and is the preferred candidate profile. Exceptional non-RBA candidates may be considered where they demonstrate extensive experience and strong working knowledge in Applied Behaviour Analysis and can effectively integrate behavioural and mental-health perspectives while maintaining appropriate scope-of-practice boundaries.
Preferred Experience
· Experience supporting individuals with addictions/substance-use concerns.
· Experience working within MCCSS-funded developmental services and Quality Assurance Measures (QAM).
· Experience working with residential/group-home teams, families, agencies, and community service providers.
· Experience supporting complex or high-risk clinical situations within professional scope.
Professional Profile
Professionalism is paramount. We are looking for a clinician who is personable and collaborative while maintaining appropriate boundaries; demonstrates maturity, sound judgment, accountability and reliability; communicates directly and respectfully; remains calm under pressure; appropriately holds themselves and others accountable; accepts and applies feedback; and consistently demonstrates IBSS's Core Values of Accountability, Collaboration, Integrity, and Responsible Compassion.
Role Structure
This is an individual-contributor role with no direct reports. The position provides specialized consultation to other clinicians but does not hold supervisory or performance-management accountability for RBAs or SBTs. Consultation is targeted and needs-based and is balanced against the role's direct psychotherapy and approved billable clinical responsibilities.
