You are experienced in a retail setting, and have multiple years of experience managing staff. You have the ability to manage your time and prioritize tasks.
THE ROLE –
You will be the main presence in the HockeyStickMan Toronto Showroom. Reporting to the Director of Sales, you will be the lead manager at the HSM Showroom, our flagship retail location. In addition to assisting customers in person, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall look and feel of the store and the associated customer experience. You will hire, train, and manage a retail staff of full and part time employees to ensure the Showroom is always looking its best and customers are receiving an unmatched shopping experience. Your passion for hockey equipment will make you a valuable member of our in-store sales team, and your expertise in products and policies will make you a resource for all staff. You will be available for customer service escalations, and support the CS team as required,
As a small business, we value versatility, and a successful candidate in this role would look forward to learning about and assisting with all areas of the business as required. This is a new position that has been made necessary by the continued growth of HSM.
Our priority is to hire someone to work our busiest store hours, with a typical weekly schedule being 4 week days and 1 weekend day.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Establish and maintain a top class hockey retail shopping experience with the world’s best selection of pro stock and Pro Blackout inventory, drive store towards sales objectives
- Manage full and part time retail staff, including hiring/firing, training, scheduling shifts, assigning tasks, and aligning team with overall sales/marketing focuses
- Demand thorough execution of daily opening/closing checklists, control overall look and feel of Showroom shopping experience
- Monitor Showroom inventory, request transfers and restocks as required, ensure regular flow of new/featured inventory to fill the sales floor
- Oversee growth of HSM Elite Pro Shop
- Be expert in HSM products, promotions, and policies. Write and update SOPs, Training Documents, and policies as required. Be available to assist on floor and with customer service as needed
- Lead management and maintenance of the Showroom property
- Stay up to date with industry trends, be in the loop on what is going on in all areas of HSM, and communicate across departments (eCommerce, Events, Operations, Marketing, Wholesale etc)
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post Secondary Education or equivalent experience. Many of our staff have degrees/diplomas in areas like Sport Management
- Passion for the game of hockey and interest in gear; knowledge of sharpening, repairs etc. is a major asset
- 5+ years in a management role with responsibility overseeing a team in a retail environment.
- Ability to manage time effectively, analyze data, and make decisions. Attention to detail is essential
- familiarity with Shopify, Netsuite, or other eCommerce software is a plus
- An open mind and a positive attitude; a willingness to take on a wide variety of tasks (including hands on work).
- Leadership qualities and experience working with a team
- A valid driver’s license. A valid passport and the ability to drive a rental truck (ie age 25+) is an asset as well.
- Availability to work during our busiest hours (weekday evenings, weekends, especially during hockey season)
