Yonge Eglinton Community Centre is a non-profit, neighbourhood-based community centre in North Toronto (Mt. Pleasant and Eglinton area) providing a wide range of programs and services to the community, including The Pal-O-Mine Club after-school program for school-aged children.
POSITION SUMMARY:
To plan, implement and supervise small group activities, special events, programming for children aged 4-12 years at Yonge Eglinton Community Centre.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Plan, implement and coordinate programs and events that are safe, healthy and welcoming for children aged 4 – 12 years while working alongside program staff.
- Support afterschool program planning and evaluation
- Travel to neighbourhood schools, on foot or by TTC, to pick up children and escort them safely to YECC.
- Support communication with parents and caregivers about information and feedback regarding their child.
- Act as a positive role model and create an environment that promotes positive cultural and social interactions.
- Regular communication with Child and Youth Program Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- High school graduate, plus experience working directly with children aged 4-12 years.
- Able to plan, implement and supervise activities such as cooking, science, crafts, cooperative games, homework support designed to meet the skills and behavioral needs of the participants.
- Energetic team player; enthusiasm and genuine enjoyment working with children
- Current CPR/first aid training.
- Satisfactory Police Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
RELIEF / ON-CALL Afterschool Facilitators also required.
