Saskatchewan Blue Cross®, one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers, is currently recruiting for a full time * Customer Service Representative*to join our team located in our Regina Office.


This position is responsible for maintaining positive customer relations by handling walk-in and inbound telephone inquiries from prospective customers and current policyholders in relation to the products and services offered by Saskatchewan Blue Cross. The successful incumbent will support day-to-day operations and work closely with the Customer Service Team, by providing support to help ensure the smooth and effective operation of the area. This position handles varied, fast-paced work, subject to shifting priorities in a deadline driven environment.


  • Provide clients with a superior customer experience while addressing and coordinating benefit and claim inquires and/or concerns, and interpreting and explaining plans and payments
  • Listen to, and analyze customer questions or concerns with varying degrees of complexity while navigating through multiple software programs to formulate answers/solutions, and interpret and explain plans and payments
  • Handle sensitive issues in order to ensure customer satisfaction, while demonstrating professionalism, empathy and creativity
  • Research and offer solutions that are adapted to client needs
  • Promote and sell company products or services
  • Update client call record notes, while ensuring adequate details of the call are captured
  • Follow established call escalation processes as required
  • Communicate extensively in person, by telephone, in writing and e-mail with members, administrators, government agencies and providers
  • Provide administrative support, including creating letters, memos, proposals, renewals and other forms, documentation and reports as required
  • Update and maintain records, compile, track, forecast and verify information
  • Administer and manage inbound/outbound mail, including courier, and other correspondence
  • Ensure daily reconciliations and deposits are completed
  • Collaborate with the Saskatoon office to ensure the smooth and effective processing of organizational information
  • Work in a team environment to ensure service and sales are executed effectively
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties such as filing, copying, stuffing envelopes and other related duties
  • Remain current with customer service policies and procedures, and relevant product and service knowledge
  • Participate in ongoing training and self-development with an aim to provide top-quality customer service and industry knowledge
  • Work as part of a team under general supervision
  • Participate in administrative projects as assigned
  • Perform other related duties as required


  • Completion of a Post-Secondary training diploma or certificate program in a related field and 1-2 years’ experience in an office environment or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry would be considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills and a working knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel, with a proven ability to easily learn new software
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be service oriented and customer focused
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while meeting frequent deadlines
  • Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to ongoing personal development with willingness to participate in industry training
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment
  • Availability to work core business hours (Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), with a strong commitment to work schedules
  • The successful candidate may be required to undergo a background check
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on an unrestricted basis
