Location: Prospect Road Community Centre, 2141 Prospect Road, Hatchet Lake
*NOTE: The PRCC is not located on a public transit route. All candidates must have a driver's
license, access to a vehicle and/or reliable transportation.
Salary: The starting wage for this position is $16.75/hr + 4% vacation pay (dependent on
experience)

Start Date: Early October 2026
Shift Schedule: Evenings and weekends. The average shift is between 5 and 6 hours, with employees
typically scheduled for 2 to 3 shifts per week. Shift hours are from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through
Friday. Weekend shifts are available from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Daytime shifts
from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM may be offered as needed.

and facility rentals, all driven by the needs and voices of the community we serve. We're looking for a
friendly, organized, and dependable Front Desk Receptionist to join our team.
Position Summary
The Front Desk Receptionist is the first point of contact for the Prospect Road Community
Centre, responsible for greeting visitors, providing information, making sales, and registering
customers, while managing calls and ensuring a smooth-running front desk area. The ideal
candidate will provide administrative support to full-time employees while ensuring prompt,
courteous customer service is always extended to the community and guests.
Responsibilities:
● Greet and assist members, visitors, and program participants in a friendly and
professional manner
● Provide accurate information to the public about programs, childcare, facility rentals,
memberships, and events
● Make sales and process payments for memberships, childcare, programs, and facility
rentals
● Use technology to register customers for programs, childcare, and facility bookings
● Answer and manage incoming phone calls and emails, directing inquiries as needed
● Handle cash, debit, and credit transactions, and maintain accurate daily records
● Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and lobby area
● Distribute equipment, or materials to staff and renters as needed
● Provide administrative support to full-time employees (filing, data entry, updating
member records, etc.)
● Respond to basic customer concerns and escalate more complex issues to management
● Assist with opening/closing procedures for the facility
● Ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the front desk area

Minimum Requirements:
● High school diploma or equivalent required.
● Previous experience in customer service, sales, reception, or an administrative role
preferred.
● Comfortable using computers, email, and basic office software (e.g., Google workspace).
● Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
● Ability to build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients to close sales.
● First Aid, CPR, or willingness to obtain
● Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and must have resided in Nova Scotia at least
six months prior to start of employment.
● Successful screening through Child Abuse Registry & Criminal Record Check.
Note: proof of all the above will be required.
Job Specific Requirements:
● Experience performing general office duties, including filing, record keeping, and
maintaining databases and contact lists.
● Exceptional computer and technology skills, with the ability to learn new applications
quickly.
● Demonstrated understanding of customer needs, with the ability to recommend
appropriate programs or services to drive conversions.
● Strong multitasking and communication skills, including in busy or noisy environments.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills.
● Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
● Experience working with the public across all age groups.
● Comfortable liaising with staff and supporting community initiatives and events (e.g.,
farmers markets, program registration).
● Experience with computerized program registration and/or membership processing
systems is an asset.
● Basic bookkeeping skills, including reconciling and balancing sales/registration data with
financial systems is an asset
● Experience facilitating business services (filing, photocopying, faxing, scanning) an asset.
