Job Description
Allseas Fisheries Inc. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable & Collections Specialist to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing accounts receivable activities, monitoring outstanding balances, and performing collection efforts to support healthy cash flow and strong customer relationships.
This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Process and apply customer payments received via EFT, cheque, credit card, and wire transfer.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Process credits, adjustments, and account corrections as required.
- Maintain accurate customer records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes.
Collections
- Contact customers by phone and email regarding overdue accounts.
- Maintain professional customer relationships while effectively collecting outstanding balances.
- Negotiate payment arrangements within company guidelines.
- Document all collection activities and customer communications.
- Escalate delinquent accounts when necessary.
- Work closely with Operations, Sales, and Management to resolve billing disputes and payment issues.
Reporting & Administrative Support
- Prepare weekly and monthly aging reports.
- Assist with account reconciliations and audit requests.
- Identify opportunities to improve collection processes and cash flow management.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information at all times.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 2 years of Accounts Receivable and Collections experience.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and collection practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using accounting or ERP software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with the RSA program is considered an asset but is not required.
