The Satellite Clerk is responsible for placing animals available for adoption at Winnipeg Humane
Society satellite adoption centres, as well as participating in adoption center events. The
Satellite Clerk is responsible for processing all related paperwork, making on-site visits to satellite
centres and monitoring animal’s progress, and all related duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Choose appropriate animals and ready animals for transfer to satellite adoption centres,
medicate and micro chip, update animal information in Shelter Buddy (shelter software)
and process all related paperwork and transactions.

2. Deliver animals in-person.
3. Daily communication with satellite centres to monitor progress and condition of animals.
4. Rotate animals between satellite centres.
5. Process daily all completed satellite adoptions and pick up adoption fees.
6. Regularly visit satellite centres to monitor animals and take inventory of animals placed

at centres.
7. Ensure regular transfer of documentation from satellites to WHS; contracts and any

written communication.
8. Train satellite staff and volunteers in WHS adoption procedures and protocol, including

cleaning and feeding procedures.
9. Handle escalated complaints from satellite adopters.
10. Facilitate communication between satellites and WHS.
11. Communicate to satellites any special events WHS is participating in.
12. Participate in events relating to adoptions and satellite centres.
13. Communicate professionally and efficiently with other departments as necessary to fulfill

job requirements.
14. Act as Adoption Counselor when required.
15. Other duties as reasonably assigned.

Authority:
Authority to perform all assigned duties and responsibilities within established policies and
procedures.

Has frequent contact with other W.H.S. staff/volunteers and satellite staff /managers and
maintains professional, courteous relationship with all.

Abilities, Skills & Knowledge:
1. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with
staff/clients at satellite centres in adoption protocol

2. Ability to work independently
3. Efficiency and organizational skills essential
4. Computer literacy in keeping all animals and invoicing current
5. Knowledge of animal illnesses and keen observation skills
6. Able to drive a motor vehicle (Require a valid driver’s license. Must possess and provide

for employer a driver’s abstract, the applicant will be responsible for all expenses to
obtain the document.)

7. Must be flexible and easy-going, willing to change plan at a moment’s notice.
8. Demonstrate the outmost level of professionalism.
9. Positive attitude with a knack for problem solving.
10. Animal health or sheltering background preferred.

Education, Training & Experience:
1. High School Diploma or Equivalent,
2. One to less than or including 6 months experience required
