Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Maintenance/Construction Cleaning Supervisor to lead our site cleaning and general maintenance operations. You'll oversee a small crew, coordinate daily tasks, and ensure job sites are clean, safe, and inspection-ready. This role suits someone who can work independently, manage others effectively, and maintain high standards under tight timelines.
Duties
- Supervision & Coordination
- Lead, schedule, and direct cleaning and labourer staff across active construction sites
Site Maintenance & Cleaning Oversight
- Ensure thorough cleaning of construction areas, including debris removal, sweeping, and waste disposal
- Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with site standards
- Coordinate material and equipment needs; manage inventory of cleaning supplies and tools
- Oversee setup and teardown of temporary structures, barriers, and signage
Health & Safety
- Enforce all health and safety regulations on site
- Conduct regular safety checks and address hazards immediately
- Maintain documentation of incidents, inspections, and corrective actions
- Ensure crew members use proper PPE at all times
General Support
- Assist with hands-on cleaning and maintenance tasks as needed
- Liaise with other trades and contractors to minimize disruption
- Adapt priorities based on project timelines and site conditions
- Conduct daily briefings, assign tasks, and monitor work quality
- Train new team members on procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols
- Report progress and issues to site managers and project leads
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance, or industrial cleaning
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and manage a team
- Working knowledge of construction site safety standards and regulations
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Physically capable of performing labour tasks alongside crew members
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- First Aid/CPR certification an asset
- WHMIS certification an asset
