The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) represents the interests of approximately 6,000 full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students at Nipissing University. NUSU is a separate, registered not-for-profit organization that is distinct from but strongly affiliated with Nipissing University. Position Overview
We will be hiring one Finance Associate. They will be responsible for supporting the financial administration of NUSU. Their duties include AR/AP, bookkeeping, supporting the annual audit, assisting with the annual budget, and maintaining the Student Groups accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day financial administration of NUSU
- Assist in other administrative duties
- Prepare and process invoices, reimbursements, deposits, and purchase requests
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, budget tracking, and financial summaries
- Monitor budget allocations and expenditures
- Provide administrative support relating to student group funding, grants, sponsorships, and financial programs as assigned
- Keeping financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized systems
- Work in collaboration with the Executive Team in creating and maintaining sponsorship opportunities and community partnerships
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience;
- Successful completion of a degree or diploma in a relevant field such as, business administration, finance, bookkeeping;
- 2 - 4 years experience in a finance role;
- Competent in the use of the Quickbooks;
- Experience recommending and implementing process improvements;
- Ability to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision;
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines; and
- Effective organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
