We are currently hiring an experienced Asbestos Insulator to join our crew.
About the Role
As an Asbestos Insulator, you will perform asbestos abatement and insulation work on construction sites in accordance with WorkSafeBC requirements and our company safety program. Beyond asbestos work, you will also contribute to a range of general construction tasks, so we are looking for a well-rounded tradesperson with broad on-site experience. You will work as part of a crew under appropriate supervision, ensuring all work is completed safely, on schedule, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform moderate- and high-risk asbestos abatement work under supervision, in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Set up and maintain airtight containments, negative-air systems, and decontamination units.
- Apply approved abatement methods (e.g., glove-bag procedures) and handle, bag, and dispose of asbestos-containing waste safely.
- Install, remove, and repair insulation materials as required on the job.
- Correctly select, use, and maintain PPE and respiratory protection at all times.
- Assist with general construction tasks on site as needed.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and report hazards promptly.
Requirements
- Valid asbestos abatement certificate (required).
- Strong general construction experience — not limited to asbestos work (e.g., framing, demolition, renovation, insulation, site labour).
- Construction safety courses and tickets.
- Fluent in English.
- Physically able to perform demanding labour, work in confined spaces, and wear respiratory protection.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious, with the ability to work well in a team.
Assets (Preferred)
- Fluency in all three languages: French, Spanish, and English.
- Construction safety courses and certifications.
- Additional WorkSafeBC asbestos certification levels.
- Steel-toe boots and basic hand tools.
