Job Description

Reporting to the Manager Financial Services & Financial Systems Development, or designate, be responsible for ensuring quality customer service regarding accounts receivable (AR) collections, administrative duties and maintenance of the receivable accounts data integrity. Responsibilities include:
Accounts Receivable transaction processing including invoice processing, posting of related journal entries and ensuring payments are posted accurately and timely, processing of monthly statements, letters, memos, etc. for overdue accounts;
Accounts Receivable account maintenance which includes balancing and reporting on receivables, A/R control reconciliation and customer aging analysis;
Customer Masterfile maintenance including maintaining Masterfile and data integrity, analyzing accounts for completeness and duplication, ensuring integrity of customer account flags/settings, maintaining customer hierarchies;
Collection management including reporting on allowances, liaison with 3rd party collection agency and other City departments;
Providing customer service by responding to requests and information concerning invoices and payments;
and performing other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge and skill of generally accepted accounting principles normally associated with completion of a three (3) year Business Administration Diploma (with an accounting specialty), and two (2) years of relevant municipal accounting experience; or have an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Proven aptitude to accurately work with figures and handle treasury functions.
Established skills and experience using PC equipment and related software applications (i.e. PeopleSoft, MS Office, Class).
Excellent customer service experience and good communication skills to deal effectively and courteously with the public and staff and be able to respond to inquiries by telephone, in person and in writing.
Ability to work independently, quickly and competently in a multi-tasked environment with frequent interruptions and to maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to work under pressure to meet rigid deadlines. Possess personal qualities of maturity, tact, discretion, and have a willing and co-operative attitude.
