Financial Aid Officer
Under the direction of the Manager, Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Officer analyzes and coordinates the financial aid/OSAP/bursary and scholarship process and is the subject matter expert on financial aid, as such, complex or non-routine issues are escalated to the incumbent. The incumbent provides information and communicates with prospective students, applicants, guidance counsellors, parents, faculty and college administrators regarding a broad range of financial aid-related question/topics. The incumbent supports the College’s recruitment and admissions efforts by developing and delivering information sessions on and off-campus.
Additional responsibilities include:
acting as a key team member to the Financial Aid Advisors, all part-time staff and Work Study students; dealing with difficult and complex clients as referred by the Financial Aid Advisors, college faculty or administrators; administration of special programs including Out of Province loans and Bursaries for Students with Disabilities; provides support for the annual financial aid cycle by participating in validating and testing financial aid forms, queries and processes that affect financial aid for all program levels; analyzes and recommends solutions or enhancements to processes; trains financial aid staff; monitors, investigates and trouble-shoots student record issues.
The successful candidate will possess a three year diploma or degree in Public Relations, Accounting or Business.
A minimum of three years of professional experience specifically related to student financial aid services including OSAP, Scholarships, Bursaries and emergency loans administration.
Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to make decisions and work independently.
Proficiency with various software programs.
Proven ability to handle a variety of tasks with ongoing deadlines.
Experience in a leadership role.
Thorough knowledge of the Ontario College system.
