Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and related equipment to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and air system issues on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative maintenance services.
- Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, steering components, wheel seals, hubs, bearings, air systems, and electrical systems.
- Inspect and repair trailers, including brakes, suspension, lighting, landing gear, doors, floors, and structural components.
- Perform inspections and ensure trucks and trailers meet provincial and federal safety regulations.
- Use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools to troubleshoot and complete repairs.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-repair inspections to verify equipment is safe and road-ready.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and maintenance performed.
- Order and track parts and materials required for repairs.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
- Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with workplace safety standards.
- Work closely with drivers and the operations team to minimize equipment downtime.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Experience repairing diesel engines, brake systems, suspension, steering, air systems, electrical systems, and trailer components.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems efficiently.
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and commercial vehicle inspections (CVIP experience is an asset).
- Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy components and working in various positions.
- Valid driver's license (Class 1/AZ is an asset).

Pay: $23.60-$30.00 per hour
