Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, especially sushi preparation, and possess a keen eye for detail and presentation. Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, including nigiri, sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese specialties
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and used according to safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area in compliance with health regulations
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new sushi recipes and menu items
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring ingredient levels and notifying management of supply needs
- Uphold high standards of presentation, taste, and consistency in all dishes served
- Follow all food safety procedures and sanitation guidelines diligently
Skills
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar role within a professional kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, sushi techniques, and ingredient handling
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food preparation
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Creativity in plating and presentation to enhance guest experience
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members
- Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices
- Previous experience working with children or tutoring is a plus for roles involving teaching or educational activities related to culinary arts or early childhood education.
Pay: $23.00-$29.86 per hour
