A Day in the Life

Reporting to the transportation manager, the incumbent provides tactical and operational support to the Transportation and Trade Compliance department. The incumbent will play a key role in cost reduction and client satisfaction, inventory supply transit times monitoring, follow-up of transportation costs to budget, troubleshooting, business review coordination with carriers, and recommendations on transportation solutions.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Performers a variety of import/export duties that include processing papers necessary to facilitate shipments between international locations.
Administers the efficient and economical movement of goods in accordance with organizational policies.
Prepares reviews, approves and maintains files for import/export documents required for the lawful completion of import/export activities.
Serves as an import/export liaison for international customers/subsidiaries, distribution, procurement, planning, manufacturing, intercompany finance, regulatory and import/export compliance functions.
Plans, schedules and routes imports and exports, including monitoring the flow of traffic to/from foreign destinations, ensuring related customer service, brokerage and customs transaction compliance.
Follow-ups on Canadian Inbound Log including interacting with carriers, planning & distribution, ensuring validity of information, ensure prompt communication among all Logistics stakeholders (Planning, Operations, and Transportation) for all abnormalities relative to distribution.
Ensures the follow through of urgent shipments from Technical Service or Customer Service: takes necessary actions for urgent shipments from a transportation level. Follows up with transportation carriers and Customer Service.
Works with transportation carriers to coordinate the traffic of trucks at the Distribution Centre. Ensure's that all trucks are available for distribution.
Creates documentation for all intra-warehouse shipments and fields technicians (bills of lading).
Produces all documents related to the claims process in the event of damage to product caused by the transport carrier.
Communicates with transportation carriers regarding pick-ups and deliveries.
Analyzes transportation costs and identify opportunities of cost saving.
For inbound shipments: ensures that any missing importation documents are received by our customs broker in a timely manner. Upon receipt of information from our customs broker, ensure timely follow-up with the Planning team for receipt of the documentation.
Produces export documentation (within a maximum of 48 hours for the CTS/RGA/international outbound orders).
Regularly updates the products database HS using E1.
Analyzes on-time-performance data at the end of each month in order to complete monthly reports.
Approvals of pending invoices in the D2L (transport invoice payment database).
Creates Standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in order to comply with Canadian regulation (CBSA) and other government agencies.
Validate HS codes and NAFTA certificates for all the Covidien products .
Monitors and Analyzes duty spend and savings opportunity.
Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR).
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Finance or similar.
2 years in experience in Customs Brokerage / International Transportation / Logistics.
Detail oriented with emphasis on following up in a fast-paced environment.
SAP & ERP Knowledge is preferred.
Ability to quickly analyze, document and defend subjective matter.
Solid verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
Customs Broker’s License preferred.
