What you will be doing
The Branch Manager is responsible for leading the inside/counter sales and operations teams and is responsible for the success of the branch ensuring smooth, efficient operations and profitability of assigned branches. This includes ensuring that all KPI’s, including profitability targets and recommended margin levels, are achieved. Promote and support Gerrie’s commitment of passionately helping customers be more successful by delivering exceptional experiences and driving business growth. Foster an inclusive culture that appreciates and welcomes all employees to share their ideas and encourage collaboration amongst the team and other departments.
SALES AND MARKETING
Responsible for maintaining and building strong relationships with customers in the region, to be recognized as the go to distributor. Regularly interface with your customer base, including visibility at the counter and customer/job site visits.
Responsible for achieving branch goals and objectives assigned by sales leadership.
Create and develop the annual branch sales budget in collaboration with the Director of Sales.
Meet quarterly to review and track progress. Develop required action plans to ensure successful achievement of the goals.
Meet, as a minimum monthly, with branch sales team to review results to budget and follow up and collaborate on creation of any open action plans if off plan.
Identify and seek new business opportunities to grow market share with new and existing customers.
Create strategies to reduce customer churn and increase expansion opportunities.
Ensure margin level goals are maintained by daily analysis of the branch GP Check report.
Manage pricing agreements and contracts to ensure profitability while remaining competitive – provide market feedback to the Pricing Department in a timely manner.
Manage branch inside sales team activities ensuring quote follow up is completed.
As required provide quotations, price, stock and delivery information to customers.
Support and promote the use of eCommerce tools to improve the omni channel experience for our customers.
Actively utilize the provided reporting tools to review branch sales performance and other objectives.
Conduct regular market research and analyze data sources to stay updated on local market conditions and industry trends. Proactively develop strategies to grow market share, mitigate risk, meet, or exceed sales goals.
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure we are supported in the market.
Prepare for and participate in regularly scheduled sales and marketing meetings i.e., Monthly Sales and Manager meetings, FMS, Quarterly Branch Reviews. Organize, host, and promote customer training and events throughout the year.
Branch participation and support for all relevant Gerrie marketing, promotions, and activities.
Represent the company at local industry and community events as required.
LEADERSHIP
Represent the company values and lead by example.
Provide day-to-day leadership for your teams, including counter sales, inside Sales, warehouse, and administrative employees.
Mentor and coach employees to do their best work.
Create a positive inclusive culture that motivates employees to meet their goals.
Collaborate with Human Resources to interview, hire, train, motivate, reward, discipline, address complaints and resolve employee problems.
Ensure onboarding programs are effectively completed in required time by all employees newly hired or transitioning into a new role.
Responsible for employee learning and development providing comprehensive job training, tools, and knowledge to serve our customers, achieve goals and meet company objectives. This includes the required 40 hours per employee training requirements are met.
Conduct the annual performance evaluation process with each employee and identify training and career path progression in conjunction with Human Resources.
Create and maintain a team atmosphere and ensure employee concerns are resolved promptly.
Ensure good cooperation with and between departments.
Responsible for employee’s time and attendance, ensuring time is reviewed and approved in accordance with required timelines.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the branch, ensuring overall efficiency and effectiveness of all functions.
Lead by example, ensure all aspects of Quality and ISO processes and procedures are adhered to, including health and safety. Follow documented policies and procedures and ensure compliance of all branch employees. Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Ensure a safe and respectful work environment for all employees, taking all necessary precautions to maintain a hazard-free environment. Ensure all employees receive and are up to date with the required Health and Safety training. Responsible to ensure the health and safety audits are completed as required and follow up when not in compliance.
Responsible for Inventory Management at the branch – cycle counting, turns, fill rates, inventory accuracy, ROP’s, reassigns and investigating variances. This includes preparing and executing for the annual physical inventory.
Review stock regularly for damage and obsolescence.
Review defective stock, looking for repetitive trends and ensure speedy returns.
Manage branch profitability including margin management and keeping expenses under control.
Ensure daily deposits are made and the cash submittal form is complete.
Responsible for ensuring invoicing, and credits are done on a timely basis and meet the branch's days outstanding goal.
Resolve any customer complaints or issues in a timely manner and maintain customer satisfaction using the Improvement tool.
Regularly interface and use reporting tools to review branch operational performance and other objectives.
Leverage and promote the use of digital tools to improve productivity.
Ensure the branch and the layout is optimized, clean, and organized.
Ensure all marketing material and merchandizing are all well displayed, current and well stocked, including rotating stock and having proper signage. Create displays for merchandise and promotions to increase traffic into the branch. Ensure all employees are informed of the current promotions and that they promote to the customers.
Oversee the flow of operations in the branch to identify any bottleneck areas and implement new strategies to promote better/faster response to customer needs.
Responsible for continuous improvement activities in the branch, actively utilizing best practices (5s, Lean, Kaizen) to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Conduct monthly staff meetings to ensure employees are kept updated on necessary changes and can share challenges or ideas for improvement.
Responsible for management of the facility both inside and outside ensuring a clean and healthy environment. Participate in branch requirements such as maintenance, renovations, and leases.
Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities to develop your leadership skills as it relates to your role.
Prepare and issue purchase orders as required.
Review and ensure back orders are filled.
QUALITY
Responsible for maintaining the role of Quality Representative for the branch.
Responsible for the criteria in the “Branch Inspection Report” is adhered to and completed as required. Follow up on non-compliances.
Ensure employees understand and adhere to ISO policies and procedures.
GENERAL
Develop a working understanding of the company’s customers and suppliers and maintain a professional image within all interactions.
Work with other departments as required, conveying a professional corporate image that represents the values of Gerrie Electric.
Meet and exceed set objectives and department goals and ensure timely completion of all extra tasks as assigned.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Participate in conferences, seminars, and other educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintain and participate in professional networks to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Participates on committees and special projects as requested.
What you bring to the table
Post-secondary education (degree, diploma/certificate), preferably in an Electrical related discipline or Business Administration
Minimum of 5+ years Management experience within an electrical related environment.
Must have organizational knowledge – industry, market, products, company, etc.
Must possess a keen business acumen and act in line with the company’s vision.
Proven ability to develop and lead employees to achieve success.
Experience motivating, mentoring, and coaching employees.
Ability to think strategically and to make decisions.
Leadership skills required – team building, motivating, ability to effectively give feedback and listening to employees.
Exceptional communication skills, including both written and verbal.
Additional skills required: strategic planning, negotiation, time management and delegation.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
