Position Summary
The Junior Drilling & Completion Engineer supports the planning, execution, and optimization of drilling and completion operations under the guidance of senior engineers. This role involves monitoring operational performance, analyzing data, preparing reports, and supporting safe and cost-effective well construction activities.
Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to)
1. Drilling Operations Support: Assist in planning and monitoring drilling activities; track drilling performance, daily operations, and well progress; support the preparation of drilling programs and operational reports.
2. Completion Operations Support: Assist in the design and execution of well completion programs; monitor field activities, evaluate operational results, and support troubleshooting efforts as required.
3. Engineering Analysis & Optimization: Analyze drilling and completion data to identify performance trends and improvement opportunities; support initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, well performance, and cost effectiveness.
4. Cost Tracking & Reporting: Prepare cost estimates, tracking expenditures against budgets, and maintaining operational records. Prepare technical reports, performance reviews, and post-operation evaluations.
5. Data Management & Documentation: Maintain drilling and completion databases, engineering files, and operational documentation. Ensure data accuracy and support internal reporting requirements.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with geology, reservoir, production, field operation, and service provider teams to support well planning, execution, and overall field development objectives.
7. Safety & Environmental Protection: Support safe execution of drilling, completion in accordance with corporate HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- University degree in petroleum engineering, or related field
- Recent graduate or up to 3 years of relevant experience
- Basic understanding of drilling, completion, and well construction operations
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with drilling and completion software (e.g., Geoscout, WellView) is an asset
- Must be registered as an EIT with APEGA
- Fluent in English and Chinese
Compensation: We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure, and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $3500 to $5000 CAD per month.
