Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Garbage Truck Driver for a seasonal position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating waste collection truck in the busy streets of downtown Ottawa, ensuring timely and efficient pickup services, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role requires physical strength, attention to safety protocols, and excellent driving skills to serve our community effectively during the busy seasonal period. Schedule is 4 days on/ 4 days off and bi-weekly pay is topped to 80 hours (if eligiability is met).
Responsibilities
- Operate side loader garbage collection trucks safely across designated routes
- Work cohesively with a partner (loader) to collect on-street waste baskets
- Perform heavy lifting of trash bins and containers when help is needed
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle to ensure proper functioning and report any issues promptly
- Maintain accurate records of pickups and route completion
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies during operations
Experience
- Valid DZ driver’s license with a clean driving record is required (minimum 3 years commercial driving)
- Prior experience operating collection vehicles is a strong asset
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to safety procedures and traffic regulations
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during scheduled shifts
Pay: $33.00 per hour
