ReproMed Fertility is a leading provider of reproductive health services in the Greater Toronto Area for over 25 years and we are looking for a Registered Nurse to assist in delivering all surgical and clinical activities within our fertility clinic. This is a maternity leave contract position for 12 months.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The RN will work as part of a highly-skilled and productive interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient-focused care. This is an opportunity for a Clinical Nurse with interest or experience in fertility nursing to provide patient-focused competencies in an environment with a diverse client base. ReproMed provides patient care within a clinical and surgical environment, supporting two operating rooms on-site, alongside the IVF laboratory and Andrology laboratory. This role will report to the Nursing Manager.
Duties:
- Meeting with fertility patients to implement the medication protocol designed by the Medical Director and providing further information/ assessments as required.
- Act as point of contact to facilitate information between patient and physician.
- Arranging for prescription medication ordering through pharmacies/ dispensing onsite and maintaining accurate inventory records according to the mandate of the College of Physician and Surgeon of Ontario.
- Scheduling of OR procedures.
- Rotating through assigned roles in OR, recovery, sedation and cycle monitoring positions.
- Pre, Post-operative care in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) related procedures.
- Maintaining the utmost confidentiality with respect to all patients.
- Keeping an accurate inventory of all medical supplies and submitting orders as needed.
- Teaching/administering SC and IM injections and initiating IVs.
- Day shifts only for 7.5 hours between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm weekdays and a rotating weekend shift (8am to 12pm, Saturday and Sunday).
- Providing patient teaching and support throughout IVF cycle.
- Assisting the physician and performing intrauterine insemination as instructed.
Skills:
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- 3-5 years medical/surgical experience required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certified or currently enrolled.
- Team player with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
- Current BScN with registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Previous in-vitro fertilization clinical experience preferred but not essential.
- Commitment to professional practice and personal development.
- Computer skills are required.
