The Opportunity
The AGI Food Service team is actively seeking a Field Service Process Piping Technician candidate to join our growing Food Service Division. Under the direction of Global Lead of Service and Installation - Food, you will perform process piping installation and maintenance, and assist in maintaining and / or installing and construction of industrial machinery, up to and including the installation, repair, move or reassembly of machinery at an AGI facility or customer’s site. Also, you will be troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility and make the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status, ranging from basic conveyor systems to complex industrial production systems.
This is a travelling role across Canada. Travel time may exceed 80% at various times of the year and may include weekends and / or holiday hours. Some international travel may be necessary.
The Team
This role will be an integral part of the Food Service team and work in close coordination with them.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance by workforce or subcontractor to all installation standards, procedures and contractual commitments with the bound of all applicable policies
- Supervise work performed on systems ranging in difficulty from basic conveyor systems to complex industrial production systems
- Assemble machinery and equipment before installation using hand and power tools
- Adjust; repair or replace defective parts on machinery applicable to job scope
- Install, align, dismantle, rig and move industrial controls systems as necessary
- Conduct daily job hazard analysis along with jobsite Foreman for each job with the project and ensure all customer required permits are complete prior to starting any work
- Provide expert guidance to installation teams to ensure AGI equipment installation requirements are met including the installation of secondary components to AGI equipment (compressed air, hydraulics, instrumentation, electrical connections)
- Perform and support the completion of AGI equipment checklist inspections
- Daily coordination, collaboration, and reporting with AGI team members (Foreman, Superintendents, Engineers, Project Managers)
- Review and aid in the mechanical / electrical set-up of compressed air regulator pressures, blowers, valves, airlocks, screws, etc.
- Build and support a positive environment of teamwork and support
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or similar equivalent education required
- Experience with welding, specifically TIG welding sanitary piping / stainless steel, or performing orbital welding is necessary
- Experience working in heavy industrial and construction environments
- Experience with forklifts, aerial lifts and other heavy equipment
- Verifiable experience managing on-site project activities, scheduling and reporting a plus!
- OSHA 10 / 30, Welding Certifications, Aerial Lift License, Forklift License, First Aid/AED licenses required – training provided
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
- Working at heights

- Maintain and follow DOT regulations applicable to AGI
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to successfully interact with employees and clients professionally
