Help drive business improvement across our operations by partnering with site and business unit teams to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and deliver sustainable value. You will use data, problem-solving, and collaboration to improve performance and build continuous improvement capability across the organization.
Align and optimize Business Improvement (BI) systems and processes to ensure the BU Business Improvement resources can provide consistent delivery, embed capability, and address systemic causes of performance gaps.- Facilitate and establish prioritization systems and execution of initiatives that will improve the business with BU Technical and site teams to ensure value delivery.
- Act as subject matter expert to advise, provide technical guidance, diagnose and guide BU Head Technical, BU Head Finance and Site Business Improvement teams in effective delivery of value adding initiatives.
- Establish operational systems and forums to standardize communication and streamline collaboration across BU Technical, Finance, and Site BI teams to align improvement activities with BU priorities.
- Analyze performance data to identify systemic causes, distinguish them from special causes, and build KPI literacy across BU and Site teams. Deliver guidance and support for problem-solving and overcoming barriers to achieving full potential of operational assets.
Support site teams to ensure compliance of improvement activities with internal and external policies and regulations. Investigate operational issues, provide problem-solving guidance, and optimize improvement systems.- Design and optimize cadence review systems and reconciliation processes to standardize governance and streamline delivery of initiatives by leveraging Amplify and Valuation and Reconciliation tools.
- Deliver and embed BI frameworks through training, capability-building, and standardized toolkits for site BI leads, BI team members and operational leaders.
- Create playbooks, standardized templates, and BI systems resources to ensure consistency of BI execution across sites.
- Lead and optimize BU and site employee development in BI frameworks and tools, define performance goals, ensure compliance, and initiate collaboration among team members. This involves; creation and provision of tailored training sessions, delivering problem-solving and project management guidance, coaching and support for BI practitioners.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or a related field with experience.

Experience leading or supporting business improvement, operational excellence, or continuous improvement programs.

Strong understanding of mining operations, manufacturing, oil and gas, or another complex industrial environment.

Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Theory of Constraints.

Experience with project management and delivering cross-functional initiatives.
- Ability to analyze data and communicate insights that support decision-making.
- Proficiency with Power BI and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Advanced English proficiency required; Spanish proficiency preferred.

Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.

Ability to coach and develop others while building productive working relationships.

Experience working across multiple teams, sites, or business functions is an advantage.

This role works closely with technical, finance, operational, and business improvement teams across the business.

This role is being offered remotely and hybrid options (hybrid expected for those located near a current Newmont site/hub) and we welcome applications from candidates of any of our site/hub locations across the Americas Business Unit.

You will collaborate virtually with diverse, multicultural teams across the Americas Business Unit and need to be able to travel to operational sites as required.
The Newmont team is now recruiting for the position of Principal, Technical, Americas, with a competitive base salary between CAD $153,600 – CAD $219,400 / year. The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity.
The listed salary range applies to positions based in Canada. Compensation may vary for candidates hired in other locations.
