Job Description
Are you looking for a rewarding role in healthcare where you can truly connect with your community? Our thriving primary care optometry clinic is expanding, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team.
In our clinic, the patient experience is everything. As the first point of contact and a key player in the clinical flow, you will blend warm hospitality with technical precision to ensure our patients receive exceptional, personalized vision care. Whether you are an experienced optometric professional or someone with a strong background in customer service and a passion for learning, we provide the training and support you need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Your days will be dynamic, split between welcoming patients at the front desk and utilizing specialized clinical technology:
- Patient Welcome & Reception: Greet patients warmly, manage the daily appointment schedule, answer inquiries, and check patients in and out.
- Pre-Testing & Diagnostics: Conduct preliminary testing before the patient sees the Optometrist, including auto-refraction, non-contact tonometry (eye pressure testing), digital retinal photography, and optical coherence tomography (OCT).
- Administrative Excellence: Manage electronic medical records (EMR), handle billing and direct insurance submissions, and coordinate patient referrals.
- Optical Support: Assist patients with frame selection, take basic measurements, and manage contact lens orders and patient pickups.
- Clinic Care: Maintain clean, organized, and welcoming pre-testing and reception areas.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience in an optometry or medical clinic is an asset, but not required. We are fully prepared to train the right person who possesses excellent learning agility and a strong work ethic.
- Customer Service Excellence: A warm, friendly, and professional demeanor with a genuine passion for helping people.
- Technical Savvy: Comfort learning and operating specialized clinical equipment and medical scheduling software.
- Organization & Detail: Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy in patient files.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Why Join Us?
- Community-Focused Culture: Work in a supportive, collaborative environment where you are treated like family and patients are known by name.
- Growth & Learning: Gain hands-on experience with advanced eye care technology and optical concepts.
- Work-Life Balance: Consistent daytime hours with No weekends and one evenings (7pm), allowing you to enjoy your time outside of work.
