We are Niagara’s oldest law firm (1882), located in St Catharines – our very established, and respected Family department is requiring an experienced Litigation Associate

Lancaster Brooks & Welch LLP offer 137 years of experience and an in-depth understanding of a multitude of family law issues. We cover legal procedures related to individuals, including marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, separation, marriage, annulments, divorce, child custody, paternity recognition and property and trust resolution. Our lawyers are knowledgeable about all forms of dispute resolution to deal effectively and proactively with the many issues, including Court proceedings, trials, motions and appeals, collaboration, mediation, arbitration and negotiation.

As an Associate at LBW, you will be provided with the opportunities and experiences to develop your skills as a family lawyer. You will have the opportunity to manage your own files while collaborating and learning in a collegial environment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent academic credentials
  • A minimum of 1 -3 years of experience
  • A license to practice in Ontario
  • Proven client management skills
  • Strong analytical, communication and drafting skills
  • An entrepreneurial attitude
  • The successful candidate will hold a J.D. or L.L.B. and will be a member in good standing with the LSO.

Responsibilities will include:

In this role, you will be assigned your own work as well as assisting senior counsel with litigation matters. Preparation of pleadings, motion materials and legal research. Court appearances and attendances with clients, experts and witnesses. Excellent drafting skills are essential.
