Our Shallow Utilities division is an approved City of Calgary contractor with a variety of city projects in its portfolio. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review scope of work with superintendent and execute key functions, while also performing hands on tasks.
- Assist superintendent with organizing and coordinating the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors and equipment.
- Ability to effectively lead, mentor and motivate crew while demonstrating team values and work ethic.
- Schedule equipment and manpower needs with superintendent
- Ensure all applicable environmental regulations are adhered to throughout the construction process.
- Attending project closeout meeting to ensure successful completion of projects.
- Document all pertinent project information, including site conditions, employee issues, and changes in scope of work.
- Review grade sheets for accuracy.
- Review and submit electronic timesheets daily.
- Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers and others on the work sites.
- Reports unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries and near misses to supervisor and participates in the investigative process.
- Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
- Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Foreman position.
- Shallow utility experience within the City of Calgary is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, schedules and costing reports.
- Thorough understanding of construction procedures and safety practices.
- A strong technical computer capability using mobile devices is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of proper equipment utilization, operation and maintenance.
- Understanding of contracts, asset utilization and costing.
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS2020) Certification.
- Ground Disturbance.
- Confined Space.
- Valid First Aid.
- Must have Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean current drivers abstract.
- Must have own transportation with strong knowledge of Calgary and surrounding area.
- Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Must be available to work long hours including evenings and weekends during busy season
- Must be able to work in variable weather conditions (extreme cold and heat)
- Must have CSA-approved safety boots.
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
