Automotive Technician – Performance & Motorsport
AFR Autoworks Ltd. is seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive Technician to join our growing team in Red Deer, Alberta.
AFR Autoworks specializes in high-performance automotive service, repair, fabrication, engine building, motorsport electronics, standalone ECU integration, and EFI tuning. We work on a wide range of performance vehicles, from daily-driven street cars to dedicated race vehicles, and take pride in delivering exceptional workmanship and customer service.
This position is ideal for an experienced technician who is passionate about performance vehicles, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is looking to develop their skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair services to manufacturer and AFR standards.
- Assemble, install, and commission performance engines and supporting systems.
- Install and configure fuel systems, turbocharger systems, and performance upgrades.
- Perform custom fabrication and welding tasks as required.
- Design, build, and install motorsport wiring harnesses and electrical systems.
- Install and integrate standalone engine management systems.
- Assist with EFI tuning, calibration, data logging, and vehicle testing.
- Perform vehicle inspections and identify required repairs or performance improvements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality results.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
QualificationsRequired
- Journeyman Automotive Service Technician or equivalent industry experience.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret service information, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively within a team environment.

- Standalone ECU experience (Link, MoTeC, Haltech, etc.).
- EFI tuning experience.
- Dyno operation experience.
- Suspension setup and race vehicle preparation experience.
- Automotive CAD or design experience.
