Field Service Technician
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs in-house, on-site and/or telephone troubleshooting, repairs (focused primarily on the mechanical components of the robots) and support of KUKA equipment on an as-needed basis
- Works with the Service Manager and/or related supervisor(s) to identify individual training needs to maintain and continually improve skills and knowledge of KUKA Robotics products and applications
- Develops proposal package, including estimates, service, support as required to meet customers’ expectations; with collaboration of inside sales and technical resources as needed
- Coordinates activities with customers/plant management as need to resolve scheduling and personnel issues
- Assists the Assembly, Commissioning, Spare Parts, Shipping & Receiving teams when required to ensure on-time, complete and accurate deliveries.
- Provides multi-level lecture and laboratory training to customer and KUKA personnel as needed
- Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continual improvement
- MUST understand and follow safety regulations as well as identify/report safety concerns observed at KUKA Robotics, customer and/or integrator sites
- Frequently travels (domestic and international) to customer sites to provide support on short notice, as well as requires the ability to work long hours to meet customer needs
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in a related role
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent college diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, and/or related robotic automation experience and/or training
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand both French and English
- A strong mechanical aptitude with experience in the correct use of torque wrenches, calipers, and other tools
- Knowledge of electrical theory, low voltage circuits, design and/or testing, set up and troubleshooting of robot and automation controls, AC/DC circuits, weld controls and servo controls. Vision system knowledge is an asset
- Strong computer skills and experience with PC based systems and information technologies (IT), Computer, Robot (KRL or equivalent, VisualBasic,, C+, C’) and PLC (Siemens and Rockwell) programming
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, a valid passport and a reliable vehicle
- MUST be able to work with a flexible work/travel schedule, performing on site support with short notice or outside of regular business hours
- This is a remote role, with regular travel within Quebec and Canada
