A Brantford Canadian food-manufacturing group is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated leader to manage the day-to-day operation of our cooked-protein facility.
This is not an office-based management position. We need a hands-on leader who is highly visible on the production floor, understands what is happening throughout the plant and takes personal ownership of the facility’s daily performance.
The Facility Manager will support and provide oversight to our strong floor supervisor and production team—not replace or undermine them. The successful candidate will ensure that people, equipment, production and the building operate safely, efficiently and with discipline.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain a consistent daily presence on the production floor.
- Oversee production, labour scheduling and staffing decisions based on volume and cost.
- Support supervisors while maintaining clear accountability and workplace discipline.
- Ensure the interior and exterior of the facility remain clean, organized and well maintained.
- Lead maintenance activities, preventative maintenance and timely repair follow-up.
- Monitor labour cost, throughput, yield, waste, inventory and production performance.
- Conduct a brief daily floor huddle and address operational issues immediately.
- Work closely with QA on food safety, CFIA requirements and corrective actions.
- Coordinate employee matters with HR, including attendance, performance and discipline.
- Provide concise operational reporting to senior management.
- Participate in the broader management team based at our corporate office in Mississauga.
Health and Safety Committee lead
The ideal candidate:
Has minimum of 7 years proven leadership experience in food manufacturing, protein processing or a similar food production environment.
Leads from the floor and is comfortable getting directly involved when required.
Demonstrates sound financial judgment regarding labour, waste, maintenance and purchasing.
Is mechanically inclined and understands preventative maintenance.
Is organized, decisive, accountable and capable of managing a small facility with limited administrative support.
Understands that success is measured through plant results—not time spent behind a desk.
