Kootenay Inclusivity & Developmental Services (KIDS) is looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Developmental Support Facilitator to join our growing team in Fernie and the Elk Valley.
Position Details
Location: Fernie / Elk Valley, BC
Hours: Part-time; caseload can be built around your availability
Schedule: Flexible — independent contractors provide their availability

Rate: Starting at $18.25/hour
Travel: Reliable vehicle and driver's licence required
Our Developmental Support Facilitators work one-to-one with children and youth in their homes and communities, helping them build meaningful skills through everyday experiences. Depending on the individual learner, sessions may focus on communication and self-advocacy, emotional regulation, independence, social connection, play, transitions, community participation, and other individualized goals.
KIDS takes a strengths-based, neuroaffirming approach. We aren't looking for someone to make children appear less autistic or simply gain compliance. We're looking for someone who can build genuine relationships, follow a learner's interests, respect their communication and boundaries, and help them develop skills that meaningfully support their everyday life.
What the role looks like
- Provide individualized 1:1 sessions with children and youth
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners
- Implement individualized Learning Experiences developed by the KIDS clinical team
- Embed learning naturally through play, routines, interests, and community activities
- Collect simple data to help us understand learner progress
- Complete a brief Session Note following each session
- Participate in monthly team meetings and ongoing training
- Communicate and collaborate with families and the KIDS team

Teacher, Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Educator, Child & Youth Care Worker, education/psychology/social sciences student, recreation professional, disability support worker, or someone with meaningful experience supporting children and youth.
Previous ABA experience is not required. We're much more interested in finding someone who is warm, dependable, curious, open to feedback, and genuinely enjoys connecting with children.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or youth
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's licence
- Ability to travel within Fernie and/or the Elk Valley
- Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
- Comfortable receiving training, feedback, and clinical support
- Willingness to complete required screening/documentation
- Availability for consistent weekly sessions
