JOB SUMMARY:
Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Health and Safety Coordinator for the operations department based at our Montreal refinery. Reporting to the Health, Safety & Site Security Manager, the incumbent ensures adherence to the overall safety culture within the refinery and offices in Montreal by verifying, maintaining, and improving the health and safety program in collaboration with their team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and analyze workplace-related risks and participate in implementing appropriate action plans and corrective measures;
- Provide support to the refinery management team in preventing and resolving health and safety issues, as well as implementing the occupational health and safety (OHS) strategy;
- Advise and influence the management team on best practices regarding OHS;
- Coordinate OHS activities, audits, emergency measures, OHS committees, safety training, etc.;
- Develop and disseminate safety training modules and programs that meet legal requirements, company policies, procedures, and practices;
- Collaborate with human resources in the return-to-work process and new employee integration programs;
- Design, review, and update health and safety programs for the Montreal plant;
- Participate in various OHS committees;
- Conduct training and informational sessions;
- Contribute to maintaining and improving various management systems in place such as lockout/tagout, confined space, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System), investigations, accidents, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety (or related field);
- Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in health and safety in an industrial environment;
- Hands-on experience in health and safety;
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) license (an asset);
- Experience in a unionized environment;
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office);
- Team player, good communicator, and motivator;
- Strong sense of responsibility and good organization;
- Flexibility, autonomy, and precision;
- Sense of urgency and good critical thinking;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
