JOHNSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (JES) – Watson Lake
Home to the Liard First Nation people, Johnson Elementary School is one of 11 Yukon schools who have joined the newly established First Nation School Board (FNSB) in the Yukon. Dene Zā́gé’- Kaska is the traditional language of the Liard First Nation people.
Johnson Elementary School is a K – 7 school with approximately 130 students. We are actively seeking committed and qualified educators who are dedicated to living in and being an active member of the community and who can adapt well to a remote lifestyle. Our educational professionals value authentic relationships and are committed to working with students, community, administration, Liard First Nation Education team and the FNSB to make positive, progressive changes to education outcomes for learners of Watson Lake.

This position is responsible for providing a variety of school library support services to the student body, school staff, and parents/guardians to the Johnson Elementary School in Watson Lake. This includes checking library materials in and out, keeping circulation records, sending overdue notices and performing other clerical tasks. Essential Qualifications:

- Experience working in an office environment, including performing routine clerical tasks;
- Experience working in a library setting or similar environment
- Experience working with the Dewey decimal classification system would be an asset.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

- Excellent internal and external customer service skills and the ability to work well with a diverse staff and student body.
- Quick problem solving and troubleshooting ability at a busy circulation desk.

- Consistent accuracy and meticulous attention to detail while maintaining a very high level or productivity.
- Willingness to assist with library activities and events; such as, Book Fairs and Reading Clubs.
- Reliable, flexible, self-motivated and enjoy the rewards of working in a school environment.
