How You’ll Make an Impact
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Affairs, the Public Affairs Specialist is responsible for supporting public policy, media relations and communications programs.
The role is part of Fidelity Canada’s larger Corporate Affairs team, which includes internal and external communications, digital media, social media, employee and community affairs and market research groups. The team’s mandate is to protect and promote the reputation of Fidelity Canada and to advance the organization’s mission through best-in-class communications, informed by research and data and with a continuous improvement mindset.
A collaborative team with diverse backgrounds in investments, journalism, communications, public policy, data analytics and more, Fidelity Canada Corporate Affairs operates in a dynamic environment in which team members are encouraged to bring their ideas, get involved in a wide range of exciting initiatives and make a positive impact.
Primary responsibilities:
1) Public Policy Intelligence
Proactively monitor and analyze the constantly evolving regulatory, legislative and policy landscape at local, provincial, federal, and international levels and identify emerging opportunities and risks for Fidelity and its clients.
2) Public Policy Research Support
Working with the market research group and other internal partners, assist with the design and execution of research projects in support of Fidelity’s advocacy goals.
3) Media Relations and Issues Management Support
Working with the external communications team and other internal partners, scan rapidly changing media and social media environments, identify opportunities and risks and prepare media relations and issues management plans and communications materials.
4) Stakeholder Engagement Support
Working with internal partners, coordinate external stakeholder engagements and prepare effective advocacy materials, including presentations and policy submissions.
5) Measurement, Reporting and Planning
Methodically track, analyze, and report on assigned projects and develop plans to continue to move projects forward.
What We’re Looking For
University degree in public policy, political science, communications, or related work experience.
Minimum 3 years of public policy experience, preferably in financial services.
Bilingualism in English/French (both verbal and written) is an asset.
Postgraduate degree in a related field is an asset.
