We have filled the current position. However, our team is still growing and if you are interested in becoming a dispatcher - and would like to be contacted when there's another opening- please get in touch! We're passionate about our work, and a cover letter that tells us what you enjoy about the role will go a long way!
Would you like to use the skills you've developed in customer service to start a new career?
As a dispatcher, one of the biggest parts of your job is helping customers who need emergency assistance. They may have broken down on the side of the road, woken up to a flat tire or dead battery, or even locked their keys in the car.
We need to find out important details about their situation and dispatch a towing operator with the right skills and equipment to help them as quickly as possible. We do this work from our head office, right here in Victoria, supporting some of the most professional automotive towing companies from across British Columbia.
The work can be very exciting, and when it gets busy it can even feel like you are playing a real time strategy game. No two shifts are ever the same! If you have experience working as a server in a busy restaurant - memorizing orders, keeping an eye on multiple tables, and problem-solving new situations - you might feel right at home.
TowCentre is hiring a permanent full-time dispatcher to support our automotive towing clients in British Columbia from our head office in Victoria. The successful candidate will be required to work evenings, weekends and statutory holidays, and occasional night shifts.
Reporting to the Manager of Dispatch Services, you will be accountable for logistics, support, and managing multiple fleets. Your responsibilities will include:
-- responding to emergency requests and inquiries from the general public,
-- developing and adapting plans to meet changing circumstances,
-- coordinating with professional towing operators,
-- communicating with police departments and insurance companies,
-- producing quotes for service and reconciling invoices,
-- developing documentation and training materials, and
-- supporting other users of our proprietary dispatching platform.
To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate minimum keyboarding skills of 35 wpm and 5,000 keystrokes per hour, excellent memory and attention to details, and the ability to learn proprietary computer programs.
You will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to clearly articulate information in English to all demographics by telephone. You will be required to successfully complete background checks, which may include criminal, credit, credential and reference checks.
Other related experience will be considered an asset, such as working in a call centre or retail environment, working in the automotive towing industry, or having a geographical knowledge of British Columbia.
If you have excellent communication and proven customer service skills, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to continuous learning, we will be able to provide you with the training you need to be successful.
When applying for this position, please submit your resume along with a cover letter that tells us what you would enjoy about this role.
