Position Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Pastry Baker / Balkan Bakery Specialist to join our team in Canada. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience preparing traditional Balkan baked goods, including lepinje, kifla, and similar pastries.
The successful candidate will work in our fast-paced bakery environment, helping produce high-quality baked products while maintaining traditional flavours and preparation methods. This position requires early morning availability, as shifts begin at 5:00 AM.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake traditional Balkan bakery products, including lepinje, kifla, burek, and similar pastries.
- Prepare doughs, fillings, and baked goods according to company recipes and standards.
- Ensure consistent product quality, taste, and presentation.
- Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all food handling, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery and kitchen areas.
- Assist with packaging baked goods for retail and wholesale distribution.
- Collaborate with team members to improve recipes and production processes.
- Support daily bakery production in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in baking or pastry production, preferably with Balkan-style baked goods.
- Must have experience preparing and baking lepinje.
- Knowledge of traditional Balkan pastries and dough preparation techniques.
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to start shifts at 5:00 AM.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Culinary or baking certification is considered an asset.
