Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dental team in various clinical and administrative tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety protocols.
- Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, ensuring compliance with IPAC regulations.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Tracker or Paradigm for patient management and scheduling.
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging when necessary.
- Maintain infection control protocols and aseptic techniques throughout the practice.
- Support the dental receptionist with administrative tasks as needed.
Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:
- Bilingual is an asset
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Tracker or Paradigm is preferred.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices.
- Experience in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation is a plus.
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is highly desirable.
- Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles is beneficial.
