Certified General Accountant (CGA)
Financial Debt Recovery Limited (FDR) is a single source provider for all corporate credit and revenue management needs, focused on collection services for accounts. FDR provides collection services to a broad range of major Canadian organizations across the country. Our clients currently include the Ontario Government Collection Management Unit, the largest automotive portfolios, many of Canada’s chartered banks, and an extensive commercial base of clients.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Certified General Accountant (CGA) to manage and oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and provide accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, audits, and strategic financial planning to support organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable local accounting standards

Maintain and manage U.S. books, including general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations

Oversee month-end and year-end close processes for U.S. entities

Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards

Manage general ledger activities, journal entries, and account reconciliations

Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including preparation and filing of tax returns

Coordinate and support internal and external audits

Monitor cash flow, financial controls, and risk management processes

Provide financial insights and recommendations to management

Maintain accurate financial records and documentation

Support process improvements and implementation of accounting systems or tools
Qualifications & Experience

Experience with various accounting software packages (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Sage) is essential; knowledge of ERP systems is preferred.

Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation (or equivalent professional accounting certification, as applicable)

Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, including hands-on experience with U.S. books

Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and U.S. financial reporting requirements

Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Experience with financial analysis and reporting

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
