Job Description
The Red Deer Curling Centre (located in the Pidherney Event Centre) is looking for an enthusiastic, organized, and motivated individual to join our team for Concession & Catering Support. The Centre is a versatile, multi-use facility that hosts a variety of activities, including curling leagues and rentals, curling bonspiels, as well as trade shows and other community meetings and events. This role assists with food preparation, service, event setup and cleanup, cash handling, inventory management, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members, guests, and event attendees, reporting to the RDCC Kitchen & Catering Lead and the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Welcome customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and serve menu items according to established recipes and food safety standards.
- Respond promptly to customer requests and resolve concerns professionally.
- Promote menu specials and upsell products when appropriate.
Concession Operations
- Prepare concession items including snacks, sandwiches, beverages, and light meals.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) system and process cash, debit, and credit transactions.
- Restock food, beverages, and supplies throughout shifts.
- Assist with opening and closing concession procedures.
- Monitor product quality and rotate stock using first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices.
Catering Support
- Assist with preparing food for catered events, bonspiels, meetings, and banquets.
- Set up buffet lines, banquet tables, beverage stations, and serving areas.
- Serve food and beverages during catered functions.
- Assist with event teardown, cleaning, and equipment storage.
- Work collaboratively with the catering and kitchen team to ensure successful event execution.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow Alberta Health Services food safety regulations and organizational policies.
- Maintain clean workstations, equipment, dining areas, and storage spaces.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required.
- Report equipment maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately.
Inventory & General Support
- Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing inventory.
- Monitor inventory levels and advise supervisors of shortages.
- Help with merchandising displays and product presentation.
- Support other food and beverage operations as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, concessions, catering, or hospitality is an asset.
- ProServe certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Food Safety certification is considered an asset.
- Basic cash handling and POS experience preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organized, and detail oriented.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.

Part-time, Casual, or Seasonal (based on operational needs).Shifts may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, leagues, bonspiels, banquets, weddings, and special events. Flexibility in scheduling is required.
Pay: $16.52-$18.00 per hour
